Zambezi Airlines to increase flights

Zambia’s national airline, Zambezi Airlines, says it is increasing flights into Harare International Airport before the end of this year due to improved business between Zimbabwe and Zambia.

In an interview Business Development Manager for Zambezi Airlines, Anthony Matoka, said: "We are very happy with the way things are going for us right now.

In fact we are increasing our flights from the current six to about 10 soon.”

Matoka said it was untrue that Zambezi Airlines was mooting pulling out of the Harare route.

"In fact we are increasing flights into Harare in collaboration with Air Zimbabwe.”

Zimbabwe currently imports maize from Zambia and women frequently visit Zambia to shop due to much cheaper prices.

Air Zimbabwe recently went on strike. It the last financial year it recorded a loss of more than $10 million – much to the dismay of the cash-strapped government. – Ngoni Chanakira
