Zimpost’s internet cafes

Zimbabwe’s ailing postal company, Zimpost, is set to adopt modern systems of information technology, a senior government official said during the World Post Day celebrations recently.

The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Communication, Partson Mbiriri, said Zimpost was seeking to modernise its operations.

“We have 250 postal outlets spread across the country. These outlets have been struggling to stay in business due to the advent of modern postal services. The rapid advances of technology have greatly affected our services and of those most affected is the traditional postal system of letter writing,” he said.

In an effort to remain viable, Zimpost has started setting up internet cafés in its outlets around the country.
