The minister’s remarks come in the wake of an influx of illegal drugs from overseas, particularly from China and Indonesia. Madzorera said most of the drugs flooding the markets had not been scientifically proven to cure ailments and said locals should purchase drugs in pharmacies.
He also encouraged members of the public to report health workers who were stealing prescribed drugs and selling them to members of the public.
“We have received numerous cases of illegal selling of drugs by medical workers. Please report such people to the police because they are endangering the life of the public. It’s illegal,” said Madzorera.
