Economy needs recapitalization: PM

The economy needs recapitalization and reconstruction in order to solve the current job crisis, according to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.

The comment was made to a panel of business people from different sectors of the economy who were addressing the constraints of their different economic sectors.

“Our economy needs to be recapitalized in order to solve the current job crisis and our major objective is how do we grow and expand the shrunk economy,” said Tsvangirai.

The Prime Minister said he did not want the current Zimbabwean economy to slide back to the 2008 hyper inflation economy, and said the indigenisation process should have clear policies which do not only benefit a few individuals, but the deserving population.

“The country was on an excellent road to recovery and over the last six months, with the election talk, the discord has assumed centre stage and people have engaged in speculation and a wait and see attitude,” said Tsvangirai.

The Business Community on Indigenisation is a platform which was organized by KM Insurance to articulate the challenges being faced by different business sectors on a daily basis so that the government could be kept informed.
