FC Platinum open three points clear

Premier League pacesetters FC Platinum have opened a three point lead at the top of the league table following a victory over Shabanie Mine in the Zvishavane derby at the weekend.

With title rivals Dynamos held 0-0 by Hwange at the Colliery, Rahman Gumbo’s men established a nice cushion at the league summit with only three matches to play this season.

FC Platinum can win the championship by picking up at least four points in their next two fixtures against Monomotapa and Dynamos, which would render the season-ending trip to Shooting Stars of merely academic interest.

The league leaders were without four key players – skipper Zephania Ngodzo, goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube, defender Norman Togara and striker Charles Sibanda – due to suspension. But they were still good enough to bag maximum points.

Platinum travel to Monomotapa next, then host Dynamos in the decider at Mandava before finishing the season away to Shooting Stars.

Dynamos host Motor Action in a Harare derby, followed by the trip to Platinum. They finish the season at home against Kiglon.
