Jila takes over from Dangarembwa

Media practitioner and consultant, Yvonne Jila, has taken over as the new International Images Film Festival Director, replacing top international novelist, Tsitsi Dangarembwa.

Dangarembwa had been at the helm of the IIFF for more than 10 years.

"She has finally passed on the torch to Yvonne Jila," a spokesperson said in an exclusive interview. "Yvonne now becomes the new Festival Director of the IIFF with immediate effect."

The IIFF is the only women's film festival south of the Sahara and was founded by talented filmmaker cum novelist, Dangarembwa.

Jila holds a Diploma in Public Relations and has several certificates on proposal writing, reporting, and feminism. She joined Women Filmmakers of Zimbabwe in 2008 as a Programmes Assistant and was later promoted to be Programmes Officer before assuming Festival Directorship, a position she currently holds.
