Justice Uchena will hear the matter at 10:00 hours in his chambers.
The application for leave to appeal against the refusal of bail for the Glenview residents was necessitated by the pronouncements made by Deputy Chief Justice Luke Malaba early this month that such leave was necessary in terms of the bail appeal procedures.
Justice Uchena threw out the residents’ bail application on 1 July 2011 after ruling that they could flee from the country. The seven Glenview residents namely, Glenview Ward 32 councillor Tungamirai Madzokere, Rebecca Mafikeni, Phenias Nhatarikwa, Lazarus Maengahama, Stanford Maengahama, Yvonne Musarurwa and Stanford Mangwiro have been detained in remand prison since the time when they were arrested in May for allegedly murdering a police officer, Inspector Petros Mutedzi.
