The event is organized by the Zimbabwean Musicians General Arts Trust, which is earmarked to raise funds for late musician’s widows and children. In an interview with Showbiz on Wednesday the Trust’s spokesperson, Mathias Kush, said:

“We have found it noble to hold such an event. The proceeds from the event will be given to the late musicians’ families. We have 59 female and male deceased musicians whose families are going to benefit.”

Music lovers will pay $5 at the gate for adults and a dollar for children. The fund has partnered with Coca Cola to provide a free drink for those who attend. Kush said they had invited children of the late musicians to perform.

“An album and video with music from the legends’ children, featuring music from Jordan Chataika’s son, Dembo’s sons, Chimombe’s son and others, will be launched during the event,” he confirmed.

Musicians expected to perform at the promising event include the ZORA music maestro, Firebrand Leonard Zhakata, Nicholas Zacharia, Suluman Chimbetu, Kapfupi and Peter Moyo among many others.

“We were looking forward to including Oliver Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso in our line-up, but their managers were not co-operative. They said they were committed elsewhere on the day.”
