Umvundla is an infectious dance music extravaganza with a unique blend of Gregor Salto’s mixing and production versatility and compelling compositions from Mathias Muzaza, the band’s talented vocalist and the rich sounds from guitarist Trustworh Samende and bassist Abundance Mutori.
Salto is a highly sought after DJ and travels widely for concerts and night-club based dance-tours.
The EP was launched at a special flash mob event in Spui Square in Amsterdam, Netherlands and at the Spring Fiesta in Johannesburg, South Africa. It carries original versions of Umvundla, Welele, Busie and the hit track from their debut album Mese Mesea as a bonus track. The album also features various remixes of the songs.
According to the band manager Marcus Gora, “The title Umvundla, which is Ndebele for Rabbit, is not accidental. The title and the title track refer to a traditional folk tale about a rabbit and a baboon bringing it into the present day, with humour wit and sense of fun.”
He added that the Victoria Falls-based six member ensemble was currently performing regularly at venues around Harare.Post published in: Entertainment
