Armed with a powerful voice, M’Press Pro said the album will feature the likes of Janneke Mushonga and Band Mutare. She said the album will be a mixture of reggae, afro-soul and deep Zulu songs.
“I’m currently working on my debut reggae album. It will also feature other genres such as afro-soul and deep Zulu songs. The album is going to carry six or eight songs. I am still to decide on the actual number of tracks as well as the title. But what I can assure you is that it will be a massive project since I am working with great producers and singers at Ansey’s Studio.”
M’Press Pro, born Gcinekile Dlamini, graduated at the Federation Union of B Artists (FUBA) in 2003. However, since reggae is overshadowed by kwaito, house and R&B in South Africa, she decided to relocate to Zimbabwe, to get more exposure as a reggae artist.
“I came here in 2010. Besides being a muroora (daughter-in-law) here, it was also a decision based on my career as a reggae artist. There is so much love for reggae in Zimbabwe, which is quite different from South Africa. For me, Zimbabwe was the best place for me to grow as a reggae artist. I have learnt a lot here,” she said.
M’Press Pro has been raising her profile during her energetic live performances in Mutare. She has performed at Jam Sessions and Mutare Night of Music.Post published in: Entertainment
