Rahman Gumbo in trouble

FC Platinum coach, Rahman Gumbo, is under fire from the team’s management following his loss to Harare giants Dynamos last week. They lost 0-1 to Dembare in a crunch league tie at Mandava stadium.

The loss dislodged FC Platinum from the apex of the PSL log to the second position with Dynamos assuming leadership. Only one game is left.

Sources privy to the goings on inside the team’s headquarters said management was becoming impatient with Gumbo.

“The management is not taking lightly the fact that Gumbo's loss to Dynamos, itself the third this season, has jeopardised hopes of clinching honours. Lots of funds were invested in the team and Gumbo can be fired after the end of the league if he finally fails to bring the trophy here,” said the source.

Other sources added that the management, led by President Nathan Shoko, and club chairman, Taddious Zhou, assured MIMOSA, owners of the team, that FC Platinum would win the league if all the players were brought in.

“That assurance made the company commit to funds for the team and management sees Gumbo as the person who has failed the deal,” said another impeccable source.

Contacted for comment, FC Platinum Secretary Philimon Muvengwa said the future of Gumbo would be decided when the season ends.

“I am not aware of such reports of firing the coach. The only thing I can say is that when the season ends, we will sit down and decide whether to take Gumbo for the next season or not. That is our position,” Muvengwa said.
