Robots cook up a storm

A restaurant has become famous in China after employing robots to cook noodles for customers. Fan Ming, owner of the noodle eatery, in Nanping, Fujian Province, bought the robots for £1,000 in the hope they would attract more customers. And he says the investment has paid off - with many customers being nagged by their children to try the robots' noodles.

"Many people come here just to order the noodles made by the robots," said Fan.

The robots, made in the image of Japanese cartoon character Ultraman, slice noodles skilfully into boiling water. One young customer commented: "It's eyes and chest lights flash as it chops the noodles. It's really cool!"
