The Gentleman up for US awards

Zimbabwe’s first action drama, The Gentleman, has been nominated for two American awards, one of the producers has revealed.

Rufaro Kaseke, who is the motion behind the movie, made the announcement shortly after being accepted at the American International Film Festival. The Gentlemen has also been nominated for Best Director and Best Cinematography in the foreign language category.

According to the dreadlocked cinematographer and producer, the AIFF entry was facilitated by one of the film’s producers, Sylvia Chimhina, who is based in the US.

Kaseke, who took the film industry by storm after his debut movie production, Lobola (Bride Price), went on to reveal that they have partnered with various crucial stakeholders in a bid meant to promote the movie in the international arena.

“We have secured some partnerships with multi choice Malawi and other business individuals for sponsorship. We have also partnered with Tsitsi Dangarembga for her festival and the film will be screened on November 23 at Mannenberg (Harare) in a new category for male filmmakers called the New Man.”

The film was the country representative on the just ended African Film Expo held in Johannesburg where it was dubbed 'Africa's next block buster' by screen Africa magazine. The Gentlemen has opened in cinemas at rainbow Harare and Bulawayo. It

is expected to premier in Blantyre, Malawi on November 25, this year.
