The imperative for SADC intervention in the deteriorating Zimbabwe political crisis

The African Union (AU) at its Summit on the 30th of June 2008 in Egypt mandated the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to mediate for an Inclusive Government between the two formations of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) and the Zimbabwe African National Union (Patriotic Front) (ZANU-PF). This process culminated into the Inclusive Government (IG) premised on the Global Political Agreement (GPA) which was incorporated into the Zimbabwe Constitution through the enactment of Amen
