Top model forms Cancer Trust Fund

Zimbabwean model, Teurai Chanakira, has formed the Elizabeth Chanakira Cancer Trust Fund in honour of her late mother. Elizabeth died in December last year after more than 10 years suffering from cancer.

Teurai is the last born and second daughter of Elizabeth, wife of Zimbabwe’s former Ambassador to Germany, and the City of Harare’s first Commissioner, Dr Elijah John Chanakira.

Teurai is a lawyer, having studied for her law degree in the United Kingdom before moving to Australia where she is currently based.

Meanwhile another model-cum-university student, her cousin Mathilda, recently held a “Think Pink” party in Washington DC in honour of her aunt. “I organised a breast cancer awareness party with the girls in my dormitory to support the Elizabeth Chanakira Cancer Trust Fund,” said Mathilda, who is studying medicine.

“We had a great time and a lot of people showed up. I’m thinking of doing some more events and, maybe, a fundraising event to help raise money for the Trust.”
