Zimbabwe’s most successful music act, Oliver Mtukudzi, will this afternoon headline an eagerly-awaited music show to honour the late Oliver Tambo, one of the founding fathers of South Africa’s democracy.

Ahead of the event scheduled for Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg, organisers revealed Mtukudzi would be the main act.

Other stars who will perform alongside Zimbabwe’s most celebrated performer are Afro pop singing sensation, Zahara of Loliwe fame, Ringo Madlingozi and Sibongile Khumalo, among others.

The show comes hot on the heels of another performance by the inimitable Tuku at the ZIM-ZAR Music Festival at the Ellis Park Arena in Johannesburg. The veteran musician stole the show with yesteryear hits such as Shanda, the ever-popular Bvuma and Todii, among others.

The invitation to sing in honour of Tambo, one of Africa’s most known liberators, is another feather in the cap for the award-winning Mtukudzi, who is also Zimbabwe’s first goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund covering Eastern and Southern Africa.
