Two Oceans entries close

Entries for the 2012 edition of South Africa’s Two Oceans half- marathon have closed, organizers of the popular event announced early this week.

The event’s Marketing Manager, Stefanie Schultzen, announced early this week that entries for the half-marathon closed last Friday – a record time of nine days since online entries opened on November 9.

She further revealed that next year would see the biggest field in the history of the half marathon, slated for Newlands on April 7 next year.

“A record field of 16 000 runners will take part in the half marathon, making it by far the biggest half marathon in the country,” said Schultzen.

The entries for the ultra marathon are expected to close on March 7, 2012 or when the 11 000 entry mark is reached, while entries for the trail runs will open on January 18 2012 and trail enthusiasts wanting to secure their spot in this popular event will need to enter as soon as possible, as entries sold out in less than a day for the 2011 event.
