US/Zim trade relations improve

Trade between the United States of America and Zimbabwe has shot up 46 percent, bringing the total figure of traded goods to $94 million.

Sharon Hudson-Dean, who deals with information at the US Embassy in Harare, confirmed the figure, pointing out that it was for the first nine months of this year.

"Zimbabwe and the US traded goods worth $94 million in the first nine months of this year," she said. "This is a 46 percent rise over the 2010 period bilateral trade in 2010."

US Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Charles Ray, confirmed that trade relations between the two nations had "greatly improved".

"Ties between Zimbabwe and the US are great right now and I am very happy," said Ray. “The trade and economic relations could, however, be improved if the political situation was more predictable in Zimbabwe.”
