“It is good that at last Masunda and his council have realized that service delivery should take precedence over hefty salaries for council employees. The city fathers are doing everything they can to restore Harare’s Sunshine City status where the capital was regarded as one of the smartest cities in Africa. It is good to note that there are rubbish bins in every street and that council employees who sweep the streets are present round the clock,” said a member of the Harare Residents Trust.
Public toilets in the city are now working and there is water and lighting in them. The council is also replacing dysfunctional street lights and ageing sewer and water pipes.
“This is a positive for Masunda and it augurs well with his promises to improve service delivery,” said a city resident.
The Harare City Council has hired excavators to open blocked drains in the city and residential areas like Glenview, Highfield, Budiriro, Mufakose and Kuwadzana.
