Zambian referees to handle SA friendly

Zambian referees will handle the potentially explosive international friendly match between Zimbabwe's Warriors and South Africa's Bafana Bafana at Rufaro Stadium in Harare next weekend.

ZIFA communications manager Nicky Dhlamini told The Zimbabwean this week the referees from Zambia will officiate.

"Even though it is a friendly we decided to call up referees from Zambia to ensure fair play," said Dhlamini.

Both teams are preparing for the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifiers and the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil after they failed to make it to next year's African Cup of Nations.

It will be the second meeting between the two sides after their last meeting in 2010 March at the Moses Mabidha Stadium in Durban in a world cup warm up match which South Africa won 3-0.

The Warriors will be without skipper Method Mwanjali who was dropped from the squad to play South Africa in unclear circumstances. Veteran AmaZulu goalkeeper Tapiwa Kapini is being widely tipped to wear the captain's arm band.
