Zanu (PF) officials in Chivi are interfering in local schools by ordering the transfer of teachers they believe to be sympathetic to the MDC.

The latest incident involves Stephen Mudereri, a senior staff member at Chinembiri Secondary School who has been put on a transfer list at the behest of Zanu (PF) legislator, Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana.

It is alleged that on October 10 a meeting was convened by the School Development Committee, Zanu (PF) Constituency coordinator, Lovemore Koto, ward 12 councillor,

Anacoletta Chihava and Mangwana’s representative, and it was resolved that Mudereri should be transferred.

Last week Mudereri said matters came to a head when he announced that nine beneficiaries of the Mangwana Trust should pay their school fees like the other students. This did not go down well with Zanu (PF) heavyweights.

“They called for a meeting and they resolved that I should no longer be accommodated at the school. Parents from the local community were forced to sign a petition demanding my transfer,” said Mudereri. “The school head then wrote me letter accusing me of preaching politics, disregarding of authority and insulting the office of the president.”
