Zanu (PF) meetings a flop

Zanu (PF) party meetings are poorly attended as people here no longer want to identify themselves with President Robert Mugabe and his cronies, a police source at Mutambara station has said.

Before the 2008 sham elections, the Mutambara area in Chimanimani West constituency was a stronghold of Zanu (PF), but now it is under Lynette Karenyi of MDC-T.

“In the run-up to the 2005 and 2008 elections, Zanu (PF) held rallies almost three times a week, but these days Zanu (PF) is not holding rallies because the people have shifted their allegiance to MDC-T,” said the police officer.

In its desperate attempts to win back supporters, aspiring Chimanimani West Member of Parliament, Munacho Mutezo, who is also a Politburo member, is hijacking food distribution meetings to preach Zanu (PF) politics. Mutezo is also using party militia and war veterans led by notorious serving Zimbabwe National Army Colonel Charles Murecherwa to force-march villagers to rallies.
