Buy Local network

Partners in the newly initiated Buy Zimbabwe campaign meant to promote locally-made products have put together a proposal for a network of local companies to buy from each other.

Buy Zimbabwe Media and Communications Executive, Robert Muganda, said some of the country’s leading businesses had agreed to join the network. A meeting to establish the network was held at the Standards Association of Zimbabwe offices recently.

More than 60 executives and business representatives from Turnall, Willowvale, Lyons, Schweppes, TN, Obel, Olivine, Kango, Tanganda, National Foods and Capri agreed that it was critical for local businesses to pioneer a ‘buy local’ approach.

The low level of trade between local companies was attributed to a lack of information on local businesses operating in Zimbabwe. The issue of promoting high quality standards for goods was also emphasized.
