CISNA conference

Zimbabe will this week host the regional Committee for Insurance, Securities and Non-Bank Financial Authorities Conference in Victoria Falls.

CISNA hosting chairman, Tafadzwa Chinamo, who is also SECZ Chief Executive, said preparations were at an advanced level. The conference will run from December 6 to 9.

He said the three-day event offered the hosts an opportunity to market the country to the conference participants who would be coming from all the represented SADC countries. The last conference was held in Swaziland in August.

"The bi-annual conference seeks to achieve CISNA’s vision through championing a process of collaboration, engagement and co-ordination between regional non-banking financial institutions and other important stakeholders," said Chinamo. "The bi-annual event is aimed at facilitating the development and implementation of a harmonised, risk-based regulatory framework for member states in Sadc".

Zimbabwe's hosting committee comprises the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Insurance and Pensions Commission and the Securities Commission of Zimbabwe.

“Zimbabwe’s CISNA members hosting committee member institutions chose Victoria Falls as a venue in a bid to showcase the country's prime tourist attraction to the 100 plus regional delegates,” he said.

CISNA is a SADC body, which comprises the non-banking financial institution authorities – capital markets, collective investment schemes, insurance companies, retirement funds and providers of intermediary services in the SADC.
