The proposal was made by city fathers at the just-ended Urban Councils Association of Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe Local Government Association here last week.
“If considered, the arrangement would go a long way towards improving the welfare of struggling city fathers,” concurred the town mayors and councillors.
Tsvangirai assured the city fathers that their request was not a big issue and would do everything possible to ensure that it reached the attention of cabinet.
The city fathers also made presentations to Minister Chombo that their monthly $100 allowances were too little, given the mammoth role they played in the community.
