Gutu has been signed by Kalmar FF of Sweden on a three year contract. The side finished eighth in the 16-team top flight league- the Allsvenskan.
In an interview with The Zimbabwean, Gutu said he took his new job as a challenge and an opportunity to sell the Zimbabwean brand of football.
“I know it’s a tricky thing, playing in competitive leagues out there, but it’s a chance to show that this country has vast talent,” he said. Gutu also expressed his sadness at leaving the Harare giants, saying he will miss the team.
“My teammates at Dynamos will miss me and I will miss them, but my advice is that they should work hard and add value to our country’s football,” Gutu added.
Kalmar FF will be playing in next year’s Uefa Europa League after finishing as runners-up in this year’s edition of Sweden’s premier knockout tournament, the Svenska Cup. They secured their Europa ticket after Svenska Cup eventual winners, Helsingborgs IF, had also won the Scandinavian- another Swedish league title.
