Founder of Chinoyera cattle breeding project, Sesel Zvidzai, who is also the MDC secretary for local government, was the guest of honour at a function held here to celebrate the success of developmental projects initiated by locals in the area.
“Today we are gathered here as proud citizens of Zimbabwe and children of Bikita, not for Zanu (PF) or MDC politics, but to celebrate the success brought about by working together in unison to develop our communities,” said Zvidzai. “I want to thank everyone here gathered for burying the hatchet and working together to ensure that the cattle rearing project is the success story it is today.”
Heifer International donated Brahman bulls and heifers to kick-start the project and today, members as far away as Manyuchi and Mbungo own cattle.
“We expect to diversify into piggery and poultry – projects that provide people with meat and generate income,” Zvidzai said.
He went on to castigate politicians from the area for their attempts to use development projects as political gimmicks.
