MDC’s mandate to protect

The MDC Youth Assembly has a mandate to protect the community from marauding Zanu (PF) thugs, provincial youth chairman Oliver Chirume said at the weekend.

Chirume, who is also a member of the House of Assembly for Gutu Central Constituency, told party supporters at Zaka Business Centre on Saturday that thee assembly had a task to prevent violence through massive anti-violence campaigns.

“We will not incite violence, but we have to protect ourselves to avoid loss of life. We cannot sit and watch our parents being butchered by Zanu (PF) thugs. Our role is to ensure there is peace and stability in the country,” said Chirume.

Chirume said soccer tournaments were part of the initiatives to keep the MDC family together and deny Zanu (PF) the opportunity to abduct party members.

“Through soccer initiatives our youths will remain connected to the community, making it difficult for Zanu (PF) to disrupt our activities,” he said.
