No place for corruption: PM

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai has solidified his stance against corruption by maintaining that MDC councillors found guilty of such a vice will be expelled from the party.

He was responding to questions regarding the fate of the 23 Chitungwiza councillors, including Mayor Philemon Chipiyo, who were expelled from the party for corruption.

“I want to reiterate my statement at Chibuku Stadium in Chitungwiza that the party will not work with corrupt councillors. We got into politics with the aim of bringing democratic change to Zimbabwe and the change must include a total eradication of corruption in all its facets,” Tsvangirai said.

Meanwhile, the MDC-T Mbizo district has suspended Councillor Johannes Ngozo for corruption, theft and fraud. Ngozo allegedly collected $10 000 from home-seekers promising them housing stands. The MDC says it has evidence that the councillor abused office by taking money from desperate home seekers and converted it to his own use.
