Zanu (PF) will hold the conference from December 6-9 at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair grounds. The venue of the conference is now guarded around the clock by soldiers.
“The soldiers were deployed here on Tuesday morning. They have pitched their tents in and around the grounds. All the people coming in and out of the ZITF arena are being subjected to rigorous searches,” said a caretaker who refused to be named.
Another worker also confirmed the soldiers’ deployment.
“The atmosphere at ZITF is now intimidating. There are security agencies all over the place and every movement is being monitored,” he said.
