Teacher dismissed by Zanu

Zanu (PF) last week announced the dismissal and transfer of Stephen Mudereri, a senior teacher from Chinembiri Secondary School, on allegations of preaching politics.

The School Development Council is comprised of Zanu (PF) sympathisers who view Mudereri as their nemesis ahead of possible elections. Mudereri said Zanu (PF) had no mandate to transfer him and the Ministry of Education should officially communicate with him in the event of such a development. He added that he would wait for official communication from the responsible authority.

"At the moment I will not say much and I know Zanu (PF) elements are working round the clock to persecute me. They announced that I would be transferred from the school, but they have no capacity to do that, "said Mudereri.

The announcement was made by Zanu (PF) councillor for ward 12, Anacoletta Chihava, at a report back meeting held at the school last Monday. Chihava allegedly mobilised the local community to pass a vote of no confidence on Mudereri and she was then accused of influencing the School Development Committee to write petitions against the teacher.

"We have no option but to make the announcement that Mr Mudereri will be transferred to Makamba School with effect from January next year. We arrived at the decision after being put under pressure by local parents, "said Chihava.
