Umuntu, The Zim sign content deal

Umuntu Media and The Zimbabwean have announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement whereby the two news media companies will develop and share content across their platforms.

It is expected that the partnership will help to enhance the quality of content produced by the two media companies. The deal will enable Umuntu Media and The Zimbabwean to cross-market media offerings with the purpose of delivering high-quality content to a Zimbabwean and global audience.

The print media will also provide an additional advertising and marketing arm for properties, jobs and business listings. A package will consist of online advertising as well as print. It is expected that this offer will be available from 2012.

In November, Umuntu Media launched www.izimbabwe.co.zw. The Zimbabwean has both an online (www.thezimbabwean.co.uk) and print platform targeted at Zimbabwean audiences all over the world.

Commenting on the partnership, Johan Nel, Umuntu Media Chief Executive Officer, said: "Umuntu Media is fast growing to become the leader in delivering digital media platforms across different African countries. Partnering with The Zimbabwean will enable us to deliver premium content to our community in Zimbabwe.”

A unique result of this new collaboration is to develop locally-relevant content that will draw Zimbabweans to digital platforms.

“Zimbabweans have been kept in the dark for so long – but the digital age has now arrived and the right to information can no longer be trampled upon. Our partnership with Umuntu will enhance the delivery of content across multiple platforms to Zimbabweans. Overall, it should enhance the experience that our readers will have with our products,” said Wilf Mbanga, Editor of The Zimbabwean.
