According to reports from Bikita, people with disabilities and the elderly receive a special allocation of maize seed from the department of social welfare. However, a Zanu (PF) group led by DCC chairperson for Bikita South, ward 4, Chaora Mushati, allegedly intercepted the seed, chanting party slogans claiming President Robert Mugabe had sourced it.
“The intended recipients only got 2 kg per head at the end of the day because the process was hijacked by a Zanu (PF) group led by Mushati and Chief Mazungunye`s aides. Zanu (PF) grossly violated the whole exercise,” said a local man who attended the event.
