ZAPU fights corruption

After successfully staging a Crime Awareness Campaign march last month in the sprawling suburbs of Johannesburg, ZAPU continues to fight for the eradication of crime.

Speaking to The Zimbabwean, ZAPU’s District Treasury, Bongani Halimana, urged fellow Zimbabweans to help create a crime free society.

“We are pleading with the Zimbabwean community here to help us continue fighting crime. We have problems with corrupt police officers aiding criminals. Our society is being destroyed with these drug dealers and street kids,” added Halimana.

On November 26, ZAPU Diaspora Regional Office led a march to the notorious Hilbrow Police Station to hand a memorandum to the Police Station Commander, Brigadier Vukile Ntandane.

The memorandum demanded that the police address the exploitation of Zimbabweans and other foreign nationals by the Hilbrow police who often demand bribes in exchange of freedom. They have also participated in Clean up programmes, Health Awareness Campaigns and other community initiated activities.
