Be friends with China, women urged

Indigenous business women here have been urged to join the Zimbabwe-China Friendship Association project because it will give them an opportunity to do business with their Chinese counterparts.

The Manicaland Coordinator for the association, Mandy Chimene, last week launched a project entitled “Every Zimbabwean Must Step Foot in China”.

In an interview she said countries like Liberia, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Lesotho, Botswana had succeeded in doing business with the Chinese under the same partnership.

“Local businesswomen stand to benefit a lot in terms of investment and gaining skills. I have travelled to China myself and I boarded 12 planes around the whole country. I felt I had to come to back home and arrange a trip for my fellow citizens to go and see for themselves how amazing this country is,” said Chimene.

“We want to create business synergies and share ideas and experiences as well as exploiting other business avenues,” she added. A total of 100 women registered for the project and an interim committee was elected to spearhead the operations of the Nyanga Chapter. They were advised to open accounts and invest money for travelling and shopping in China.

The association was formed in 2007 and Nyanga women will become the first group from Manicaland province to visit the China for business next month.
