Shumba produced a gospel album entitled ‘Munamato Wangu’ which features work from inmates and officers of Mutare Remand Prison. It was recorded by Lighton Studios and released late last year.

According to the Zimbabwe Prison Services Manicaland Public Relations department, the project will be complemented by a DVD album set for release in April.

“Our working relations started after I received a call from ZPS and they asked me if I was interested in collaborating with them on their project. I was up for the challenge and rehearsals immediately commenced,” said Shumba. “It was during rehearsals when I was also asked to compose a song. I also assisted them in rearranging most of the songs and produced the entire album.”

“The album will go a long way towards encouraging the public to have a change of heart in the way they treat prisoners. This album is there to reconnect offenders and the public,” he said.

ZPS PRO for Manicaland, Liberty Mhlanga, said he was grateful for Shumba’s “critical involvement”.
