Hatcliffe health hazard

UNICEF is to cease supplying water treatment chemicals to the City of Harare at the end of March. The Council is desperately trying to recover money owed to it for services. But helpless residents are suffering the double blow of high charges and no service delivery.

Hatcliffe only gets running water once a month. The public toilet at the main shopping centre where the bus terminus and fruit and vegetable market are situated was closed. Residents have resorted to dumping garbage in open spaces as they cannot continue to live with it in their homes.

Residents have called on the council to take immediate action on the Hatcliffe situation before diseases break out.
