We urge the Ministry of Health to look into this as a matter of urgency. While we appreciate that it is beneficial to the women to know their status, and we support all efforts to encourage people to understand the benefits of under-going testing, it is vital that such testing remains voluntary.

HIV testing must remain voluntary
The news that pregnant women are being forced to undergo HIV/AIDS tests themselves and bring their husbands in for testing is shocking. Apart from being illegal, this is a serious infringement of their human rights.
