ZBC Senior Editor Freedom Moyo dies in car crash

ZBC TV Senior Editor and Current Affairs Manager, Freedom Moyo, has died.

He died in a car crash.

In a condolence message the Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe (VMCZ) said : "The Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe Board and the entire membership extend their heartfelt condolences to the Moyo family, on the untimely and tragic passing on of Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) Current Affairs Manager, Freedom Moyo, in the early hours of Tuesday, January 17, 2012.

"Moyo was involved in a car accident on Saturday morning and was admitted at the West End Clinic where he passed on.

"We received with shock and profound sadness the news of Freedom Moyo’s death.

"Moyo was an outstanding senior journalist who was a very popular among his peers and had a very successful career in journalism.

"He cut his teeth in journalism as the ZBC Bureau Chief for Matebeleland South Province before moving to Matabeleland North Province in the same capacity.

"He was later promoted and became ZBC’s Manager for Bulletins in Harare before later becoming the Current Affairs Manager, a position he held until his death.

"He will be sorely missed by all in the journalism field and we pray that the comforting spirit of the Lord be with his family and friends during this difficult time."

The VMCZ statement said funeral arrangements were still to be finalised.

"May his soul find comfort and rest in peace," the VMCZ said in its short statement.
