ZDFG meeting in Manchester

The Zimbabwe Diaspora Focus Group (ZDFG), the coalition of UK based Zimbabwean civic society organisations and primary point of contact for stakeholders seeking to engage Zimbabweans living in the United Kingdom, is continuing with the consultation road show on Saturday 14th January 2012 in Manchester.

The ZDFG through 12 portfolio leaders engages Her Majesty’s Government via the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) every quarter to discuss policy issues that concern Zimbabweans. The team is led by Chairperson Lucia Dube.

In order to ensure that the diverse voices and views of Zimbabweans are captured, the ZDFG organises consultative meetings to which Zimbabwean organisations and individuals are cordially invited and consulted.

The 14th January 2012 Manchester meeting follows similar consultations in Leeds and Leicester in the last quarter of last year.

The meeting will start at 11.00am at the Salvation Army, 71 Grosvenor Street, Manchester M13 9UB.

Issues to be discussed include a review and report of the ZDFG 2011 work for Zimbabweans, Zimbabwe’s USD7 Billion foreign debt and Home Town Association initiative for the development of Zimbabwe. There will also be feedback on the last meeting with the FCO covering immigration, re-skilling and creating investment opportunities in Zimbabwe for the Diaspora.

All Zimbabweans and organisations working in Zimbabwe or with Zimbabweans are cordially invited.
