A step towards Justice…

Mdc activicts who were arrested last May on allegations of murdering a policeman were today granted bail at the supreme court.

Councillor Tungamirai Madzokere, brothers Lazarus and Stanford Maengahama, Phineas Nhatarikwa, Stanford Mangwiro, Yvonne Musarurwa and Rebecca Mafikeni were finally Granted bail after nine months in remand prison. They were granted bail today by the Deputy Chief Justice, Luke Malaba.

They were granted US$500 each with councillor Madzokere granted US$1 000 bail. The seven MDC members were arrested together with other 27, 9 were released without charge and the other 18 were granted bail at the High Court last year.

They were arrested on y charges of murdering a police officer in Glen View in May last year at a popular beer outlet few weeks after our 3rd National Congress.

The MDC Youth Assembly President Solomon Madzore, Jefias Moyo and Paul Rukanda are still in remand prison and are yet to be granted bail as they were arrested later in the year.
