Bail ruling postponed yet again

The Supreme Court bail appeal by seven MDC activists who are facing charges of murdering a police officer in May last year was today postponed to Monday.

Deputy Chief justice, Justice Luke Malaba postponed the matter to Monday after the State prosecutor had submitted his submission.

The seven, who are part of the 29 members who are facing the same charges, were denied bail twice at the High Court last year after the judges ruled that they were a flight risk.

However, three other MDC members who are facing the same charges and are in remand prison are not part of the seven as they were arrested when the Supreme Court bail application had already been made.

The three are; the MDC Youth Assembly chairperson, Solomon Madzore, Jefias Moyo and Paul Rukanda.

Those appealing for bail are; Councillor Tungamirai Madzokere, brothers Lazarus and Stanford Maengahama, Phineas Nhatarikwa, Stanford Mangwiro, Yvonne Musarurwa and Rebecca Mafikeni.
