Court postpones bail appeal by mdc activists

The bail appeal by seven MDC members who are in remand prison facing charges of murdering a police officer in May last year was today postponed to Friday at the Supreme Court.

The matter is being heard before the Deputy Chief Justice, Justice Luke Malaba who will consider whether to grant bail to the seven or not. The seven who were denied bail at the High Court last year have been in remand prison since then.

Those in remand prison are Councillor Tungamirai Madzokere, brothers Lazarus and Stanford Maengahama, Phineas Nhatarikwa, Stanford Mangwiro, Yvonne Musarurwa and Rebecca Mafikeni.

Bail ruling for three other MDC members, the Youth Assembly chairperson, Solomon Madzore, Jefias Moyo and Paul Rukanda who are in remand prison on the same charges will be heard separately as they were arrested on a later date.
