DA dragged before parly

MARONDERA-SVOSVE – An MDC councilor has called on the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Agriculture to make it possible for MDC policy makers to participate in the distribution of inputs.

MDC-T Councillor of ward 19 Marondera East Rural, Samuel Machekanyanga, has asked the Committee to stop the District Administrator, James Chiwaru, from barring MDC members from the distribution exercise.

Machekanyanga last week wrote to the Chairperson of the portfolio committee, MP Moses Jiri, indicating that the DA was manipulating government inputs for political gains. Machekanyanga said the DA was also manipulating the traditional leadership.

“Chief Lovemore Zenda Svosve told village headmen at Dhirihori Business Centre that he was instructed by the DA to sideline MDC officials, and councillor Machekanyanga in particular, from taking part in the distribution exercise,” said a local traditional leader.

He said the DA was a Zanu (PF) front man with an agenda.

Machekanyanga said he hoped the responsible parliamentary committee would prescribe lasting solutions to the standoff which could negatively affect villagers if nothing was done.
