ZIMBABWE will hold a two-day trade and investment conference in Johannesburg South Africa to attract foreign investors to the country. The business event, which will run under the theme, "Realising Zimbabwe's Investment Potential", will be held in Johannesburg at the Indaba Hotel from 1 – 2 March, 2012.

Highlights include:

• A showcase of investment opportunities in the various sectors of the Zimbabwean economy.

• To expose companies interested in partnering on key investment projects in the Zimbabwean economy.

• To explore opportunities for joint venture and export/import markets in South Africa, through business to business sessions.

• To develop joint venture partnerships in various manufacturing disciplines.

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai will be making the Keynote address at the Conference. Zimbabwe is now one of the fastest growing countries in Africa and is expected to achieve a growth rate of 9.41% in 2012. The host of the Conference, Minister of Economic Trade & Investment Promotion, T Mashakada says “The trade and investment conference comes at a time when efforts are being made to attract foreign direct investment in different economic sectors such as mining, agriculture, manufacturing and tourism.”

Roadshow

The Gauteng Road Show will focus on mining, agriculture, tourism, energy, ICT and the manufacturing sector among others. A similar Road Show was undertaken in November 2010 by a South African delegation to explore investment opportunities in Zimbabwe and it included business seminars both in Bulawayo and Harare.

The target sectors for this road show are as follows:

• Manufacturing, Mining and Capital Equipment;

• Agriculture mechanisation;

• Information and Communication Technology;

South Africa is Zimbabwe’s largest trading partner and a Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA) already exists between the two countries.
