Mazikana gets busy

Reigning Mr Manicaland, Brighton Mazikana, is determined to do well in a regional body-building competition to be held in South Africa next month.

“I am honoured and humbled to be participating at this high level of competition. I am already preparing so that I can raise the Zimbabwean flag high,” said the body-builder, also focusing on this year’s Mr Zimbabwe contest.

“I am not looking back. I have set my eyes on the Mr Zimbabwe title. I have gained a lot of experience in this sport.”

Mazikana, from Raylton Sports Club, became serious in the sport two years ago. He is now focused on opening his own gym.

“Body building is an expensive sport to maintain because of the type of food that you will be consuming, which mostly consists of proteins, so I am looking forward to have sponsorship from corporate partners for supplements and quality food,” he said.

Mazikana, who won the province’s premier fitness contest last October, is also preparing for the annual Harare contest-Mr. Pro Fitness.

The soft spoken bodybuilder is not new to the Mr Pro Fitness contest having reached the finals of the 2009 edition. He came second in last year’s edition of Mr Novice, after a spirited performance.
