The pastor and his wife donated the first set of shoes and the first jersey, praying for God to provide the other 999 sets. Chivaviro said he was responding to the many underprivileged kids who travel to school bare foot and brave the Winter without as much as a pullover.
When he told his congregation about his plan, their response outmatched his expectation. The Assemblies of Pentecostal Methodists has set up collection points for those who want to donate to the cause. A facebook group has also been created to raise awareness.
