World Bank forecasts Zim growth

Despite being amongst the most struggling economies worldwide, Zimbabwe is poised to grow much higher than the rest of the region, a World Bank Report has predicted.

The economy should grow by at least 7,3percent in 2012 says the report. But Minister of Finance, TendaiBiti, claims that it will “definitely grow by at least 9,1percent in 2012”.

The World Bank lowered its growth forecast for 2012 to 5,4percent for developing countries and 1,4 percent for high income countries.

“Excluding South Africa, which accounts for more than a third of the region’s Gross Domestic Product , growth in the rest of the region was even stronger at 5,9 percent in 2011, making it one of the fastest growing developing regions.
