A family member said Spencer Muchemwa was sent on an errand by major Takawira to drop someone in Seke. On his way back he allegedly rammed the new Toyota Vigo into a stationery vehicle.

“Eyewitnesses said Muchemwa, who was alone in the vehicle, got out and briefly inspected the damage. He then reversed his car from the point of impact and the next thing people heard was the sound of a gunshot inside the car. We later found that he shot himself in the head and died instantly,” said a close family member.

Army spokesperson, Overson Mugwisi, referred all questions to a Colonel Ncube, whose mobile phone went unanswered.

Relatives are baffled as to why Muchemwa chose to commit suicide over a minor Accident, and questioned why he was buried without army assistance.

The family failed to recover his mobile phone from the police in which he is said to have exchanged messages with Takawira a few minutes prior to his death.
