Education in doldrums

EDITOR - The quality of education in Zimbabwe, once a cause for envy, is no more. Absenteeism, feeble management, outdated curriculum, poor instructional strategies and a host of other factors are making its products inept.

Many junior and high students can hardly construct a correct sentence, let alone discuss issues coherently. They are not even conversant with what is happening in their local and global arena that has a bearing on today’s life. Equipped with nothing, the products of Marxist thinking roam the streets and end up being used by politicians. WOZA has been advocating a complete overhaul of the education system – but all they receive is brutal force. Government turns a blind eye and watches the next generation being ruined. – M Muda, Harare
